Frequently asked questions
How does the free trial work?
Transfer Deck is free to download, and browsing is always free. The first time you download, upload or change files, you can start a 15-day free trial with every feature. Nothing is charged and nothing renews. After the trial, a one-time purchase of $9.99 unlocks the app forever.
I bought Transfer Deck. How do I get it on another Mac?
Install it from the Mac App Store with the same Apple Account, then choose Transfer Deck → Restore Purchases.
Can I get a refund?
Purchases are handled by Apple. You can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
What do I need to connect to Amazon S3?
An Access Key ID and a Secret Access Key from your AWS account (IAM). For safety, create a key with access to only the buckets you need. If your key can't list buckets, use "Open Bucket…" in the sidebar to open one by name.
My SFTP server uses an SSH key. Which formats work?
OpenSSH keys (RSA and Ed25519), PEM RSA keys (BEGIN RSA PRIVATE KEY), PKCS#8 keys and PuTTY
.ppk keys, with or without a passphrase. You can sign in with a password, a key, or both.
Transfer Deck can also create a new key for you and show its public key to add to the server.
Does it work with older SFTP servers?
Yes. Transfer Deck first tries modern encryption, and automatically switches to a compatible mode for older servers (for example OpenSSH 5).
Transfer Deck warns that the server's identity changed. What should I do?
The first time you connect to an SFTP server, the app remembers its fingerprint. If it changes later, either the server was reinstalled or someone may be intercepting the connection. Check with the server's administrator before choosing "Forget" in the account settings and reconnecting.
Is there a file size limit?
No. Large downloads stream straight to disk, large uploads go up in parts, and interrupted transfers resume.
Where are my keys and passwords stored?
Only on your Mac, in the macOS Keychain. See the privacy policy.
